Conference chair

Pingyu Zhou is the dean of Division of STD and STD Institute, Shanghai Skin Disease Hospital and professor of Dermatology and Venereology at Tongji University. She is also the Director of Shanghai STD Treatment &Quality Control Center. Dr. Zhou is a long-time STI researcher and her principle research interests are the pathogenesis of syphilis and the effectiveness of clinical treatment. As a principle investigator, she has run more than 20 grants including China National Natural Science Foundation program (NSFC) grant and Shanghai Natural Science Foundation in the past ten years and published more than seventy peer reviewed articles as corresponding or first author. She is now the Vice-chairperson of IUSTI-AP and the EXCO of IUSTI.

Conference co-chair

Kaushal Verma is a Professor of Venereology in the department of Dermatology and Venereology at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences, New Delhi, and presently the Chair of the IUSTI-AP region. He has been nominated Inspiring Physician by the Royal College of Physicians of Edinburgh, UK. Prof. Verma has been into STI research for over three decades and his main interest areas have been HSV, HPV and Syphilis. He has published over 150 research papers and 24 chapters, and delivered over 170 invited lectures in various meetings. He has been the Dean (Exams) of the All India Institute of Medical Sciences and Advisor, Govt. of India to Nepal. He has been awarded Fellowships of Royal College of Physician (FRCP) of Edinburgh, and International Medical Sciences Academy. Award for Excellence in Teaching and Research, Dermatology Excellence Award and best published Research Paper Awards. He has also been Visiting Professor to Germany, Consultant to United Nations, Expert to Technical Advisory Committee, Ministry of Health and Vice Chair of IUSTI-AP region.

Scientific Committee Chair

Christopher Fairley is Director of the Melbourne Sexual Health Centre and Professor of Public Health at Monash University. He holds three specialist medical fellowships from the College of Physicians (Infectious Diseases), Faculty of Public Health and Chapter of Sexual Health Medicine. He is an editor of the Journal ‘Sexual Health’. His principle research interests are the public health control of sexually transmitted diseases and the effectiveness of clinical services. He has supervised 27 doctoral students to completion. He has 580 review journal publications and sits on the boards of IUSTI and ISSTDR.
